Project Overview

Sonic is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain that emerged from the rebranding of the Fantom blockchain. This transformation aimed to enhance scalability, speed, and interoperability, positioning Sonic as a leading platform for decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts. Key Features: Speed and Scalability: Sonic processes up to 10,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality, significantly improving upon the limitations of its predecessor, Fantom. EVM Compatibility: The network supports Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, making it easier for developers to deploy existing EVM-based applications without significant modifications. Fee Monetization: Sonic introduces a Fee Monetization program, allowing developers to earn up to 90% of the fees generated by their applications, fostering a vibrant developer ecosystem. Innovator Fund: The network has dedicated a substantial amount of its native token, S, to the Innovator Fund, which supports infrastructure development and application integrations. Rebranding and Migration: Fantom to Sonic: The rebranding from Fantom to Sonic was a strategic move to address scalability issues and improve network performance. Users can migrate their FTM tokens to the new S token on a 1:1 basis. Enhanced Performance: Sonic offers faster transaction confirmation times and lower gas fees compared to Fantom, making it more a...

Participation Guide

Step 1: Connect Wallet

First, head over to https://airdrop.soniclabs.com/ and Connect Wallet in the top right corner. In this guide we are using Rabby Wallet.

You will also need to enter your invite code. If you don't already have friends on Sonic testnet, you can go through their official X page or join their official Discord and Telegram channels to find invite codes being shared by other users.

You can access these here:

Sonic X: https://twitter.com/0xSonicLabs

Sonic Discord: https://discord.gg/3Ynr2QDSnB

Sonic Telegram: https://t.me/Sonic_English

Once your wallet is connected, in the left panel go to Sonic Arcade or you can head directly to https://arcade.soniclabs.com/

You will need to connect your wallet again in the top right corner. The previous step gives you access to your points dashboard and referral code.

This step will let you play the games in Sonic Arcade.

After connecting your wallet, proceed to Add Testnet and confirm the action in your wallet.

You can then Get some $TOKEN which is the Sonic testnet token needed to play each game. Do take note that $TOKEN has no monetary value and each game costs 1 $TOKEN to play.

In order to get $TOKEN, you need to connect your X profile to proceed.

Click on Sign in with X and Authorize App in the new page.

After successfully connecting your X account, you can Get 420 $TOKEN.

Step 2: Play Games on Sonic Arcade

With $TOKEN in your wallet, it's time to play the games and earn points! However, do note that because Sonic is still in its testnet phase, players might have trouble with the games loading and executing the transactions. We recommend refreshing the pages a few times or coming back at a later time to try again.

The first game is Plinko, where players drop a ball from the top and let it bounce randomly until it lands in one of the slots at the bottom which offers different rewards.

Step 3: Refer Others

In the top bar, go to Points Dashboard or head directly to https://airdrop.soniclabs.com/

On the left, go to Referral to get your code and share it with others. For each referral, you will receive 10% of the points they earn.

Conclusion

Sonic Labs marks a new phase for Fantom Foundation as the project moves the focus to building and developing the Sonic blockchain. The new blockchain will include launching a new native token, S, for users to pay for transaction fees, stake, and participate in governance. As the launch of Sonic approaches, Sonic Labs is running an airdrop program to incentivize and reward users who interact with the Sonic testnet.

Airdrops are highly speculative. Always do your own research and ensure you are on the legitimate site before connecting your wallet.

How to Maximize Eligibility

Research Refresh: Maximization Notes (2026-06-16)

  • Prioritize official, repeatable activities that are visible on-chain or in the project dashboard.
  • Keep one consistent wallet history for this ecosystem unless the project explicitly supports account linking.
  • Document completed quests, points, campaign IDs, and wallet addresses for later checker/claim windows.
  • Do not chase high-cost volume unless the project has a clear, credible incentive program.

Scoring Recalibration (2026-06-16)

  • Score recalibrated with stricter evidence gates: direct airdrop/points/claim evidence, actionable path, current official signals, expected upside, effort/cost, and stale-evidence penalties.
  • Generic project strength, funding, or broad activity no longer qualifies for S/A without direct opportunity evidence.

Scoring Notes

Sonic (formerly Fantom Opera next-gen chain) is led by Andre Cronje (doxxed, well-known DeFi figure from Yearn/Solidly/Fantom) with $10M raise. S token is live on Binance/Coinbase at $0.032 (down ~97% from ATH of $1.03 in Jan 2025), market cap ~$121M. Season 1 airdrop (~89.5M S) ended June 18, 2025 with claim window still open; Season 2 ended Nov 1, 2025; remaining ~92.2M S in treasury for future targeted incentives. TVL on the L1 is moderate (EVM L1 with sub-second finality). The price decline from ATH and completion of major seasons reduces remaining airdrop value, but points program continues. Sources: coingecko.com/en/coins/sonic, docs.soniclabs.com. Confidence: medium.

[Archive decision: ACTIVE. Active: Sonic continues running points program (Gems/Points) for future airdrop distributions from remaining ~92.2M S treasury, so new users still have something to do.]

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sonic airdrop confirmed?

This remains speculative unless the project has made an explicit official allocation, checker, or claim announcement. Treat participation as potential eligibility farming, not guaranteed rewards.
